Box Score OUAZ completes the sweep over Bethesda, taking the fourth game of the series by a score of 9-3.
The Spirit offense averaged 10.25 runs per game in their opening series against Bethesda and continued to torment opposing pitchers this afternoon. Players with multi-hit games included Evan Mendoza, Camden Knutson, and Isaiah Nava.
Camden Knutson got the scoring started for OUAZ with an RBI single that brought home Isaiah Nava after his leadoff double. After the Spirit tallied a few more baserunners, Evan Mendoza stayed hot with a 2-RBI single of his own.
In the second inning, Isaiah Nava kept dishing out headaches to opposing pitchers with his second double in as many innings, this time paired with an RBI. Matthew Carter and, once again, Camden Knutson both registered RBI-singles of their own in the second inning.
After being kept quiet for three innings, OUAZ woke back up in the sixth with the same duo of Matthew Carter and Camden Knutson. Carter's RBI came on a sacrifice fly, and Knutson's on another RBI knock.
The pitching for OUAZ stayed consistent as well. Parker Cadacio got the start for OUAZ and went 4 innings, surrendering 3 earned runs. Kasey Regala was the first man out of the pen and dazzled in 3 shutout frames, racking up 3 strikeouts. Diego Quinonez finished the game off with a scoreless frame and sealed the deal on a Spirit victory in eight innings.
OUAZ will look to maintain this pace against Johnson University in a four-game set. First pitch of game one will be on January 29th, 2 PM MST, at Rangers Field 3.
