Spirit Walk-Off Mustangs to Earn Series Sweep, Set Program Record for Wins in a Season

Surprise, Ariz.-- OUAZ Baseball capped off a historic regular season in dramatic fashion on Saturday, walking off The Master's 11-10 in 10 innings to complete the four-game series sweep in Surprise. With the win, the Spirit improve to 36-14 overall and 20-8 in GSAC play—both program-best marks—while carrying significant momentum into the postseason.

The Mustangs struck first with a two-run opening inning and later built a 5-1 advantage in the sixth, but OUAZ responded with a four-run frame of its own to even the score. Ben Ullyott delivered a key two-hit, two-RBI performance, while Matthew Carter and Kasey Regala each drove in runs during the rally to shift the momentum back toward the Spirit.

After trading blows late, Isaiah Nava delivered one of the game's biggest swings in the eighth, ripping a three-RBI double down the left field line to give OUAZ an 8-6 lead. The Master's answered yet again, tying the game in the ninth before plating two runs in the 10th to take a 10-8 edge.

Facing their final at-bat of the regular season, the Spirit refused to fold. Nava lifted a sacrifice fly to bring OUAZ within one, before Devin Duque came through with a clutch RBI single to tie the game at 10-10. Moments later, Duque advanced and came around to score the game-winning run on a wild pitch, sealing the walk-off victory and the series sweep.

OUAZ totaled 17 hits in the win, highlighted by four-hit performances from Camden Knutson and Duque's three-hit day. Nava finished with four RBIs, while Ullyott added two more in the balanced offensive effort. Out of the bullpen, Josiah Dominguez earned the win to improve to 3-0 on the season.

With the regular season complete, OUAZ now turns its attention to the GSAC Conference Tournament, where they have secured the No. 2 seed. The Spirit will open postseason play against No. 3 seed Arizona Christian on Monday, April 27th.
