Spirit Hit Four Homers in Loss

SURPRISE, Ariz. – Playing its final mid-week home game of the season, the OUAZ baseball team fell to Benedictine Mesa 22-8 at KC Royals 6.

OUAZ (17-24) led 3-2 after two innings before Benedictine Mesa (21-10) sent 18 batters to the plate and scored 14 runs in the top of the third inning to take over the game.

The Spirit did hit four home runs in the game, getting the fifth multi-home run game of the season from Adrian Salazar. The senior went 3 for 5 at the plate with two homers and three RBIs. The result gave Salazar 19 multi-hit and 12 multi-RBI games this season.

Jacob Griffin went 2 for 2 with his fourth home run, and Rene Brockman also hit his fourth homer of the season.

Trevor Smith gave the Spirit an impressive debut on the mound allowing no runs on one hit in three innings of relief.

OUAZ will return to GSAC play this weekend when they host nationally-ranked Hope International on Friday and Saturday in Surprise Stadium.
