Eagles Drop Spirit in Slug Fest

PRESCOTT, Ariz. – The final non-conference game of the season saw the OUAZ baseball team fall to Embry-Riddle 21-15 on Tuesday night at the ERAU Baseball Field.

OUAZ (18-28) had early leads of 1-0 and 3-1 before Embry-Riddle (21-23) scored five times in the bottom of the third to take a lead they never relinquished. The Eagles lead opened to 21-4 after they scored nine times in the fifth and six more in the sixth innings.

The Spirit rallied with 11 runs in the final three innings, but they could not close the gap entirely.

Adrian Salazar had three hits – including two doubles – and he scored four runs for the Spirit. Ben Lewis had two hits with a homer and three RBIs. Calvin Colon-Baez also homered, while Dru DeVera and TD Walker delivered two hits apiece.

Nicholas Lustig and Trevor Smith each pitched a scoreless inning of relief.

OUAZ now turns its attention to the final GSAC series of the season as they host San Diego Christian on Friday and Saturday in Surprise Stadium.
