Spirit Into Semifinals Behind Shutout of William Jessup

SURPRISE, Ariz. – The second day of the GSAC Women's Tennis Tournament saw the No. 1 seed OUAZ women's tennis team claim a 4-0 win over No. 8 seed William Jessup in quarterfinal action.
 
OUAZ (13-7) won or was leading when the match ended in all nine matches that took place in the dual. That started with the No. 1 & No. 2 doubles teams winning to score the first point of the morning for the Spirit.
 
Cassidy Clark recorded the team's second point when her opponent in the No. 5 singles match retired after Clark won the first set 6-1.
 
Antonia Kostoff followed with a 6-0, 6-1 win in the No. 3 singles to put the Spirit on the brink of advancing. Paulette Careaga then secured the win on court No. 4 with a 6-0, 6-0 victory.
 
The win puts the Spirit into the semifinals where they will face No. 5 seed San Diego Christian at 9 a.m. on Wednesday.
