Spirit Down Hawks for Fifth GSAC Win

GLENDALE, Ariz. – The OUAZ women's tennis team moved into sole possession of second place in the GSAC standings with a 4-1 win over San Diego Christian on Saturday afternoon.

OUAZ (9-7, 5-1 GSAC) opened the day by winning the doubles point with wins on the No. 1 and No. 2 courts.

Paulette Careaga gave the Spirit a 2-0 lead with a 6-1, 6-1 win in the No. 4 singles, scoring her second point of the day. Her doubles teammate, Johanna Sotelo-Mena, also won her singles match (6-0, 6-4) to give the team a 3-1 advantage.

Antonia Kostoff clinched the OUAZ win on court three with a 7-5, 6-4 decision. It was also the second point of the day for Kostoff after she won her doubles match with Giulia Leali.

The Spirit will face GSAC leader and 20th-ranked Saint Katherine on Saturday at noon at the Paseo Tennis Center.
