SURPRISE, Ariz. – The first of three straight home conference series for the OUAZ baseball team opened with the Spirit splitting a doubleheader with The Master's on Friday night at KC Royals 6. OUAZ walked off game one 6-5 before falling 13-5 in game two.

When the day ended, OUAZ held a 16-22 overall record with a 7-14 record in GSAC games.

GAME 1: OUAZ 6, The Master's 5
Jacob Griffin drove in two runs on a 3-2 pitch with two outs in the bottom of the ninth to give the Spirit a walk-off win in the opener. Griffin began the Spirit rally from down 5-2 with an RBI single in the eighth inning. Ben Lewis added a run-scoring single for the first run in the ninth.

The win was the eighth comeback win by the Spirit this season and just the second when trailing by three runs or more. They only led the game on the final hit.

Griffin finished with three hits and three RBIs. It is his first three-hit game of the season and the fourth time he has driven in three runs.

OUAZ totaled 15 hits as a team, with six players finishing with multiple hits. Deon Reese had the lone extra-base hit for the Spirit with a double leading off the seventh. Nathan Tarver had two hits and an RBI, and TD Walker drove in a run on a squeeze play.

Tyler Bare finished with a no-decision after giving up three runs on six hits in four innings. After Tanner Fallon worked 3.1 innings and allowed two runs, Tommy Koloski (1-2) went the final 1.2 scoreless to earn the win.
