OUAZ Drops Home Match to Dixie State

SURPRISE, Ariz. – The OUAZ women's tennis team lost to Dixie State 5-2 on Friday night at the Surprise Tennis Complex.

OUAZ (3-4) fell behind 1-0 after Dixie State (2-9) won two of the three doubles matches. The Spirit duo of Paulette Careaga and Johanna Sotelo-Mena won the No. 1 doubles 7-5.

Dixie State picked up the first two points of singles play with wins in the No. 5 and No. 4 duals. Sotelo-Mena scored the first point for the Spirit with a 6-2, 6-2 win in the No. 2 singles.

The Trailblazers would clinch the match with wins in the No. 3 and No. 6 duals. Giulia Leali picked up the final point for the Spirit with a 2-6, 6-1, 6-4 rally in the No. 1 singles.

OUAZ now gets set to open GSAC play next weekend with two home matches, starting on March 11 against Westcliff.
