Baseball Game Notes -- Week 9

The OUAZ baseball team opens a stretch of three straight weekends of GSAC play at home by hosting The Master's on Friday and Saturday on KC Royals 6. The teams will play a 9/7 innings doubleheader starting at 3 p.m. both days. The Spirit will also host Benedictine Mesa on Tuesday in the final mid-week home game of the season.

OUAZ enters the weekend with a 15-21 overall record. The Spirit sits seventh in the GSAC with a 6-13 conference record. They have gone 7-5 at home during the season and won three straight home outings.

OUAZ is batting .241 with a .716 OPS. The team is scoring 5.67 runs on 7.44 hits per game. They have scored in double figures 10 times and had 10-plus hits in a game seven times. The 25 home runs are a new single-season program record, and they have hit three homers in a game five times.

Adrian Salazar leads the Spirit with 51 hits and a .398 average. Salazar leads the GSAC with 12 home runs and a 1.211 OPS while ranking fourth in average and seventh with 35 RBIs. He has 17 games with multiple hits and 10 with multiple RBIs, with four games with two home runs.

Nathan Tarver is second on the team with 33 hits while posting a .327/.386/.495 slash line. He has nine doubles, two home runs, and 23 RBIs with 22 runs scored. His nine multi-hit games are second-most on the team.

Deon Reese has posted 23 hits for a .299 batting average. He has picked up six doubles and 17 RBIs.

Jacob Griffin has three home runs and 14 RBIs. TD Walker has driven in 13 runs. Rene Brockman has totaled 21 hits for a .250 average while hitting two homers and driving in 11. Micah Barkenhagen has scored 15 runs and has 11 RBIs.

The OUAZ pitching staff carries a 5.89 ERA and 1.66 WHIP. They have allowed four runs or less in nine of the last 11 games while holding the opponent to less than 10 hits in 10 of 12. The Spirit is fourth in the GSAC at 8.43 strikeouts per nine innings, with the opposition batting .284.

Anthony Quattrocchi has a team-best 36.1 innings pitched and holds a 2-2 record and 4.46 ERA. He is fifth in the GSAC with 48 strikeouts while averaging 11.89 strikeouts per nine innings with a .206 opponents average.

Tyler Bare has thrown 30.1 innings in 15 appearances (five starts). He has posted a 1-1 record and 3.26 ERA with 19 strikeouts. Hayden Sandman, Gage Johnson, and Josiah Dominguez each have 28 strikeouts.
