Embry Takes Tuesday Game from Spirit, 4-3

PRESCOTT, Ariz. – Making its first-ever trip to Prescott to face Embry-Riddle, the OUAZ baseball team fell to the Eagles on Tuesday afternoon at the ERAU Baseball Field.

OUAZ (13-18) went ahead 1-0 in the top of the first when Adrian Salazar drove in Jacob Griffin with a groundout. Embry-Riddle (14-16) countered with two runs in the bottom of the inning. Dru DeVera scored on a wild pitch to tie the game at 2-2 in the fifth; only the have the Eagles take a 3-2 lead with a run in the bottom of the inning.

The Spirit again tied the score when Casey Downs delivered an RBI single in the top of the sixth inning. Embry countered with the game's final run in the bottom of the inning.

OUAZ recorded just four hits in the loss, with two coming from Downs. Nathan Tarver and Rene Brockman had the other two.

As the starter, Jeffrey Gehr allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits in two innings. Tanner Fallon allowed a run in his two innings. Juan Navarrete threw 1.2 scoreless innings.

The Spirit now travels to Santa Barbara, California, where they will play a four-game GSAC series at No. 7 Westmont on Friday and Saturday.
