Baseball Game Notes -- Week 7

The OUAZ baseball team returns to GSAC play this weekend with a trip to Atherton, California, for a four-game series at Menlo. The teams will play a doubleheader on both Friday and Saturday. The first pitch on both days at Cartan Baseball Field is scheduled for 11 a.m.

OUAZ takes an 11-16 overall record into the weekend road series. The Spirit is eighth in the GSAC with a 3-9 record in conference play. They are 1-8 in road games and 5-11 in all games away from home this season.

Entering the weekend, OUAZ is batting .246 with a .724 OPS. The team is scoring 6.19 runs on 7.67 hits per game. They have scored in double figures nine times and had 10-plus hits in a game six times, with four of those coming in the past six games.

Adrian Salazar leads the Spirit with 38 hits and a .400 batting average. Salazar leads the GSAC with nine home runs while adding one double, two triples, and 27 RBIs. He ranks sixth in the GSAC in batting average, while his .737 slugging percentage is third in the conference. Salazar is riding a six-game hitting streak, and he has 12 multi-hit games and eight games with multiple RBIs.

Nathan Tarver is second on the team with 22 hits while posting a .314/.380/.457 slash line. He has seven doubles and 13 RBIs with 19 runs scored. He enters the trip 10 of 26 during his seven-game hitting streak.

Deon Reese has posted 19 hits for a .317 batting average. He has picked up five doubles and 15 RBIs.

Griffin Hagen has started the past 10 games for the Spirit and hit .273 with a double, home run, and five RBIs. Jacob Griffin has a pair of home runs and 13 RBIs, while TD Walker has driven in 11 runs.

The OUAZ pitching staff maintains a 6.46 ERA and 1.76 WHIP. The team records 8.82 strikeouts per nine innings, with the opposition batting .295.

Tyler Bare leads the Spirit with 24.1 innings pitched in 13 appearances (three starts). He has posted a 1-0 record and 2.96 ERA with 16 strikeouts. Carlos Dominguez is 2-1 in 13 relief appearances with a 4.09 ERA. Anthony Quattrocchi has 88 strikeouts in five starts with a .193 opponents batting average. Hayden Sandman also has 88 strikeouts, while Gage Johnson has 80. Nicholas Lustig leads the team with two saves.
