Slide Reaches Three as Buccaneers Rally Past Spirit in 10

SURPRISE, Ariz. – After falling behind early, the OUAZ baseball team came back to take a 9-4 lead before Park Gilbert rallied back to earn a 10-9 win in 10 innings on Tuesday night on KC Royals 6.

OUAZ (2-3) trailed 3-0 after the top of the first, but the Spirit scored four in the fourth, three in the fifth, and two in the sixth to hold a 9-4 lead with three innings to play. Park Gilbert (1-3) countered with four of their own in the seventh and tied the game in the ninth.

The Buccaneers then took the lead back in the top of the 10th. OUAZ got the tying run to second with two outs in the bottom of the inning when the lights went out at the stadium. After a 16-minute delay, Deon Reese struck out to end the game.

Adrian Salazar and Nathan Tarver had two hits apiece for the Spirit, with Salazar picking up a double and two RBI. Nicholas Lustig had a two-run double while Roger Alexander had a double, and TD Walker posted a triple.

OUAZ returns to action on Thursday when they open a four-game series with Corban at 5 p.m. on KC Royals 6.
