Late Rally Ends One Short

SURPRISE, Ariz. – The OUAZ baseball team couldn't overcome a 4-0 deficit as they lost the rubber match of a three-game series with Embry-Riddle 4-3 on Saturday afternoon at Surprise Stadium.

Down by four runs entering the bottom of the ninth, OUAZ (2-2) scored three times and left the bases loaded. The Spirit managed just five hits in the game and only had a runner reach second once before the ninth inning.

Deon Reese had two of the team's hits, including a two-run single. Nathan Tarver also had a pair of hits, with Brian Camacho delivering an RBI single for the Spirit's final hit.

Tommy Koloski (0-1) took the loss after allowing two runs on four hits in his four innings of work. The combination of Juan Navarrete, Ben Kornegay, Tyler Bare, and Carlos Dominguez retired 10 of the final 13 Embry-Riddle (6-4) batters.

The Spirit will be back in action on Tuesday when they host Park Gilbert at 5 p.m. on KC Royals 6.
