OUAZ Defeats Mavericks, 6-1

GLENDALE, Ariz. – The OUAZ women's tennis team picked up a 6-1 win over NCAA D2 Colorado Mesa on Friday afternoon at the Paseo Tennis Center.

OUAZ (2-0) used wins in the No. 1 doubles and No. 3 doubles to earn the day's first point. The top duo of Giulia Leali and Johanna Sotelo-Mena had a critical 6-2 win to pave the way for Veronica Gallardo and Tiana Pritts to score the point with their 6-3 win in the threes match.

Leali dominated her No. 1 singles match 6-0, 6-0 to score the next point for the Spirit. Antonia Kostoff took the No. 4 singles 6-0, 6-1, and then Pritts clinched the victory with a 6-3, 6-2 win in the No. 4 singles.

Sotelo-Mena would add a win in the No. 2 singles, while Paulette Careaga won her No. 4 singles match, 5-7, 6-3, 1-0 (6).

On Saturday, the Spirit will test themselves against another NCAA D2 opponent when they face Western New Mexico at 4 p.m. at the Paseo Tennis Center.
