OUAZ Hosts Defending Regular-Season GSAC Champs

THIS WEEK FOR WOMEN'S SOCCER
The OUAZ women's soccer team returns to Spirit Field for the final home game of the 2019 regular season. They will face Vanguard, and the match is set to kickoff at 11am.

HOW TO FOLLOW
Live video of the game will be available on the OUAZ Game Central portal and the NAIA Network for $7.95. The NAIA Network is available on Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, and Android TV devices. Live stats will also be available through Game Central at portal.stretchinternet.com/ottawaaz.

AGAINST THE OPPOSITION
The Spirit and the Lions have met only one time, and that was last year on October 18, 2018. In a battle of the top two teams in the GSAC at that time, the Lions scored three second-half goals to down OUAZ 4-1.

SPIRIT NOTES
The Spirit are in sole possession of first place in the GSAC for the first time in program history. The team was never in first place or a tie for first last season.

Freshman forward Saipress Jones is the GSAC leader in goals (12), assists (8) and points (30). Nationally, she ranks 35th nationally in goals and 28th nationally in assists.

OUAZ is one win away from matching its program record win streak. The Spirit won six straight games from September 3-October 1, 2018.

The back end has been rolling for OUAZ as well. The team has allowed one goal or less in nine of its last 10 games. The lone time in the streak that the team was scored on multiple times in the same game was the 5-4 OT win over Hope International.

UP NEXT
The Spirit will head out on the road for its final two games of the regular season next week. They will take on Wesmont on Halloween afternoon, and then head over to Santa Clarita, Calif. to face The Master's on Nov. 2.
