Surprise, Ariz.-- Ottawa University Arizona Football has announced the addition of Coach Shawn Yohn as the program's Running Backs Coach, bringing more than two decades of coaching experience and a proven track record of building disciplined, championship-caliber teams.
Coach Yohn has been a dedicated leader in high school football since 2004, earning a reputation for developing student-athletes both on and off the field. From 2017 to 2020, he served as Defensive Coordinator at Louisville Central High School (Louisville, Ky.), where he played a key role in leading the program to a 2018 Kentucky State Championship while also contributing to four state semifinal appearances. His defenses were consistently defined by their toughness, preparation, and relentless style of play.
Following his success as a coordinator, Yohn transitioned into a head coaching role at Eastern High School in Louisville (2021–2023), where he continued his commitment to player development and program growth. Most recently, he returned to his alma mater, Rogers High School in Puyallup, Washington, serving as Head Coach from 2023 to 2025.
In addition to his high school experience, Yohn was selected to coach in the prestigious O-D All-American Game from 2017 to 2019, working alongside top coaches nationwide while mentoring elite-level talent.
"Coach Yohn brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his position," said Head Coach Reilly Murphy, "As a former head coach, he has a strong history of leading and developing players, which adds tremendous value to our program. He has already brought a renewed sense of energy and excitement to the group as he begins his college coaching career. A man of strong faith and character, Coach Yohn was a natural fit for this role."
A graduate of Grand Canyon University, Yohn earned his bachelor's degree in sports management, providing a strong foundation in leadership, organization, and athletic administration.
"I give all glory to God—without Him, I would not be where I am today," Yohn said. "I am excited to be at Ottawa University."
