Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 The OUAZ men's water polo team swept the preliminary round of the NAIA Finals and will be facing Westcliff University tomorrow for the championship on the UC Merced campus.
 
In the first game of the preliminary round, the Spirit (14-10) outlasted the host Bobcats of UC Merced 10-7.  Jonathan Wong scored a hat trick to lead OUAZ.  Will Farrier and Ian Tauer also scored a pair of Spirit goals in the contest.
 
In the second match on Friday, the Spirit were pushed to a shootout by Westcliff, but came out with a 15-14 victory. OUAZ was led by Roland Mantecon and Tamas Misky who both scored four goals.
 
The final match of the preliminary round was Saturday morning when the Spirit defeated Cal Maritime 16-12.  OUAZ's Matty Roebuck was the led the team in scoring with four goals, while Farrier, Misky, Andrew Marshall and Clay Gyde all added a pair of goals in the game.
 
With Westcliff going 2-1 in its games, OUAZ will have a rematch on Sunday morning at 12:00 Noon (11:00 a.m. at UC Merced) for the title.
