The 2023 indoor track season for OUAZ has hit the midway point after competing in a pair of meets this month. The Spirit women opened at the NAU Axe 'em Open (Jan 13) and competed this past weekend at the Paradise Valley Community College event (Jan 28).
Next Up
The team will head a few miles down the road to compete in the Gaucho Invite (Feb. 11) in Glendale. Six days later, it's back to Flagstaff for the NAU Tune Up (Feb. 17).
Who To Watch ForÂ
All track athletes work and build toward championships and OUAZ has many who are doing the same.Here are just a few to keep an eye on:
Abby Theis - Ran the 200m and 600m at PVCC and building toward the 800m this season. Also part of the 4x400m team too.
LyQualah Kinsey - Currently competing for OUAZ's women's wrestling team but expected to be a key jumpers and 400m performer…Posted a team-best 8.33 in the 60m and 28.10 in the 200m at the first meet of the year.
Ronieka Robinson - qualified for Indoor Nationals in the 60m last year but sitting out this indoor season. Potential for nationals in the 100m, Long Jump and Triple Jump during outdoor completion.
Malajha Adkisson - A is top OUAZ sprinter this indoor season. Has the second-best team 200m time (28.64) and top 400m time (1:04.58).
