SURPRISE, Ariz. – The Ottawa University Arizona outdoor track & field teams are preparing to depart for Winona Lake, Indiana this coming weekend, to take part in the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Track & Field National Championship. OUAZ will send five athletes to Indiana this weekend to compete.
Heading north to Indiana from the Spirit are
Jordan Minor and
Darius Allen from the men's team. OUAZ's
Raiven Ellis,
Hannah White, and
Monnie Spears-Rogers will represent the Spirit on the women's side.
On the men's side,
Jordan Minor will compete in the Long Jump. Minor is currently ranked 5
th in the NCCAA in the Long Jump, with a mark of 7.03m which he accomplished at the Mesa T-Bird Invitational on April 13
th. He will compete this Friday at 8am Arizona time.
Darius Allen will compete in the 400m Dash, with the preliminaries on Thursday and the finals on Friday. Allen is currently ranked 22
nd in the NCCAA with a best time of 50.80, set back on March 31
st at the California Collegiate Open.
On the women's side of things,
Raiven Ellis will get things started by competing in the Triple Jump and the Long Jump.
Hannah White will be busy, competing in the Shot Put, the Discus, and the Hammer.
Monnie Spears-Rogers will compete in both the 100m and the 200m. On the year, Ellis is currently ranked 2
nd in the NCCAA in the Triple Jump and ranked 11
th in the NCCAA in the Long Jump.
Hannah White is ranked in the Top 20 in all three of her events. White is ranked 3
rd in the Shot Put, 6
th in the Discus, and 18
th in the Hammer.
Monnie Spears-Rogers is ranked 9
th in the 100m in the NCCAA and ranked 12
th in the 200m.
The Spirit men's and women's track & field teams depart for Indiana on Tuesday, as they prepare to compete at the NCCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships at Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana on May 10
th and 11
th.
