OUAZ Drops Senior Day Contest

SURPRISE, Ariz. – The OUAZ men's tennis team dropped a tightly contested match with Arizona Christian 4-3 on Tuesday at the Surprise Tennis Complex.

OUAZ (8-6, 5-3 GSAC) fell behind 1-0 after Arizona Christian (10-7, 6-2) pulled out the doubles point. The visitors won the No. 3 contest and then claimed a 7-6 (4) win in the No. 1 match to clinch what would turn into a significant result.

The singles matches would see winners go back and forth, starting with Liam Spiers earning the first point of the day for the Spirit with a 6-2, 6-0 decision in the No. 2 match.

After ACU answered by winning the No. 1 match, Good Adiv defeated his opponent 6-4, 6-2 on the No. 5 court to tie the match again. The Firestorm went ahead 3-2 by winning match No. 4.

Gianmarco Pitotti kept the OUAZ hopes alive with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 win on court No. 6.

With the match in the balance, ACU's Andre Millet defeated Bryce Bodak 7-5, 7-6 (5) in the No. 4 match to decide the winner.

The result leaves the Spirit's seeding for next week's GSAC Tournament undecided. OUAZ will open that tournament with a quarterfinal match on April 12 at 12:30 p.m.
