Tournament Ends with Loss to Westcliff

SURPRISE, Ariz. – The OUAZ men's tennis team saw its appearance in the GSAC Tournament come to an end with a 4-3 loss to Westcliff on Tuesday afternoon at the Surprise Tennis & Racquet Complex.

OUAZ (8-7) had opened a 3-1 lead before Westcliff (7-7) won the final three matches to complete the comeback.

It was the Spirit that started the dual with a rally, winning the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles matches after the Warriors took the No. 2 match to start the afternoon.

Wins from Bryce Bodak (6-2, 6-4) in the No. 3 singles and Liam Spiers (6-3, 6-4) in the No. 1 singles built that 3-1 advantage for OUAZ.

With Westcliff earning wins in the No. 2 and No. 4 courts, the dual came down to the No. 6 court. The Spirit's Gianmarco Pitotti won the first set 6-1 before Celien Botlan of Westcliff evened the match in a second-set tiebreak. The third set was even at 3-3 before Botlan won the final three sets to clinch the dual for the Warriors.

OUAZ dropped three different tiebreaks in the dual.
