Spirit Edge Warriors to Win Season Opener

SURPRISE, Ariz. – The OUAZ men's tennis team picked up a 4-3 win over Lewis-Clark State on Thursday afternoon in the team's season opener at the Surprise Tennis & Racquet Complex.

OUAZ (1-0) put itself in a good position entering singles play by sweeping the three double matches to earn the crucial point. Michael Loyd and Austin Todd earned the 6-3 win in the No. 1 doubles match, while Bryce Bodak and Liam Spiers did the same in the No. 2 doubles.

Spiers secured a crucial point in the No. 2 singles match with a 6-2, 7-5 victory. The Spirit also got points from Goor Adiv in the No. 4 singles (6-3, 6-4) and Loyd in the No. 5 singles (7-5, 6-1).

The Spirit will be back in action on February 11 when they face Colorado Mesa at the Paseo Tennis Center in Glendale, Arizona.
