OUAZ FOOTBALL GAME 7 NOTES
• The 17th-ranked OUAZ football team is back at Spirit Field on Saturday, October 19 when they host No. 15 Langston in one of the most anticipated home games of the 2019 season.
• The lone home game of October for the Spirit will kickoff at 7 p.m. (AZ) at Spirit Field on the OUAZ campus in Surprise, Arizona.
• The game is one of three options for the NAIA Game of the Week and has been called the Game of the Year in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
• OUAZ and Langston will meet for the second time on Saturday and it marks the first-ever meeting between the two programs at Spirit Field. Langston won last season's game 63-56 in Oklahoma.
• The Spirit enter the game at 6-0 overall this season and as the only team in the SAC at 4-0. Langston brings a 4-1 overall record and a 3-0 conference mark into the game. The Lions have won 24 straight conference games dating back to the 2016 season.

SOONER ACTION
• OUAZ faces the preseason favorite in the conference as the only SAC team that is currently 4-0. The Spirit have won eight straight conference games dating back to last season.
• In the program's history, OUAZ is 9-3 in SAC games and they have gone 6-1 in home conference games.
GAME 7 HISTORY
• OUAZ is 1-0 all-time in the team's seventh game of the season after defeating Texas College 63-14 in the seventh game last season.
• The current 6-0 record is the first time the team has been unbeaten heading into the seventh game of the year after sitting at 3-3 at this point last season.
• Saturday will mark the first time the Spirit have played the seventh game of the season at home.
LOOKING BACK
• OUAZ remained perfect on the season with a 76-21 win at Texas College last Saturday in Tyler, Texas.
• With the game level at 14-14 midway through the first quarter, the Spirit scored 34 straight points on their way to a 55-21 halftime advantage.
• OUAZ gained 550 yards of total offense and forced the Steers into six turnovers. The Spirit went 12 of 16 on third down and had seven touchdowns on seven trips to the red zone.
NATIONAL POLL
• Saturday's win helped the Spirit climb to No. 17 in this week's AFCA/NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll.
• The one spot move up the poll marks the fifth consecutive poll the Spirit have moved up the rankings after starting the year outside the top 25.
• Of the teams in this week's poll, only Keiser (Fla.) has gained more positions (16) in the poll since the preseason release than the Spirit (14).
CHECKING THE COMPUTERS
• This week's edition of the Massey Ratings have the Spirit at No. 26. That is two spots below the No. 24 position they held last week.
• Despite the win at Texas College, OUAZ fell nine spots to No. 21 in the current release at
CompughterRatings.com.
• In the first edition of the Peter Wolfe ratings that came out on Monday, the Spirit are sitting at No. 4.Â
• OUAZ also held steady at No. 2 in this week's NCCAA ratings. The NCCAA uses the Massey Ratings system to determine in rankings.
KEEP THE AWARDS COMING
• The Spirit picked up another batch of player of the week awards following the win at Texas College.

Christian Woo picked up a pair of honors as he was named both the NCCAA and SAC Defensive Player of the Week.
• Woo recorded three interceptions in the road win. The final pick was a one-handed grab that he returned for a touchdown.
• This is the second time Woo has won the NCCAA defensive award this season and his first SAC honor.
• The SAC also awarded
Jonah Alicea with its Special Teams Player of the Week award.
• Alicea recorded 100 kick return yards on two attempts, including an 88-yard return for a touchdown on Saturday.
• This is the first career player of the week award for Alicea and its the fourth time in seven weeks a Spirit player has received the special teams award from the conference.
OFFENSIVE POWER
• Following scoring 76 points in the win on Saturday, OUAZ continues to lead the NAIA with 331 points scored while ranking second by scoring 55.2 points per game.
• The Spirit have scored at least 40 points in five of their six games this season and they have never scored fewer than 34 points in the program's 16-game history.
• They join Morningside (61.0) and Kansas Wesleyan (53.3) as the only team's in the NAIA to currently average more than 50 points per game.
• OUAZ ranks third in the country by averaging 511.3 yards per game. The Spirit have gained 500-plus yards in a game four times this season and at least 420 yards in every game they have played.
• The Spirit place second in the nation this week by passing for 332.7 yards per game. Their 1,996 total passing yards lead the NAIA.
• The team's 23 passing touchdowns is tied with Kansas Wesleyan for the most in the NAIA this season.
• OUAZ currently sits third in the NAIA by averaging 26.5 first downs per game and they rank second by converting 53.3 percent on third down.
• With a plus-12 turnover margin, the Spirit are tied for the best ratio in the NAIA and they are third with a plus-2.00 turnover margin per game.
DON'T OVERLOOK THE DEFENSE
• OUAZ opponents are scoring just 20.8 points per game this season with three of the six scoring 21 or less.
• The Spirit enter the week first in the SAC and 30th in the NAIA in scoring defense.
• The opposition is throwing for 194.3 yards per game with three teams being held under 200 passing yards.
• The Spirit are 44th nationally in passing defense and ninth in the NAIA with a 94.0 opponent passer rating.
• OUAZ ranks eighth in the NAIA with 21 total sacks and 12th in getting 3.5 sacks per game.Â
• For the season, OUAZ has 23 takeaways to lead the NAIA. They also lead the country with 12 fumble takeaways while sitting fourth with 11 interceptions.
ABOUT NO. 15 LANGSTON
• Langston makes its first appearance in Surprise with a No. 15 national ranking and a 4-1 overall record.
• The Lions are 3-0 in the SAC and they haven't lost a conference game in 24 outings dating back to their first conference game of the 2016 season.
• The Steers are 0-3 at home this season and they have lost eight straight home games dating back to the 2017 season.
• Quinton Morgan is in his fifth season as head coach at Langston with a 40-7 all-time record.
• Langston ranks eighth in the NAIA by rushing for 244.0 yards per game and 22nd in scoring 33.0 points per game.
• Tim Whitfield averages 146.6 rushing yards per game to rank fourth in the NAIA. He is also fourth in the country with 11 rushing touchdowns.
LOOKING AHEAD
• Rivalry Week is on tap next week for the Spirit as they make the 12-mile trip to face Arizona Christian at Cactus High School.
• The second all-time meeting between the two teams will be the first hosted by ACU after OUAZ claimed a 73-28 win at Spirit Field last season.
