Conference Play Opens Up for OUAZ This Week

THIS WEEK FOR WOMEN'S SOCCER
The OUAZ women's soccer team begins Golden State Athletic Conference play this week, as they open at home against San Diego Christian on Thursday and against Hope International University on Saturday.

HOW TO FOLLOW
Live video of both games will be available on the OUAZ Game Central portal and the NAIA Network for $7.95. The NAIA Network is available on Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, and Android TV devices. Live stats will also be available through Game Central at portal.stretchinternet.com/ottawaaz.

AGAINST THE OPPOSITION
The Spirt are 2-0 against San Diego Christian, winning one game in each of the previous two years. Both wins came in the same fashion – 2-1 finals in El Cajon, Calif.

OUAZ and Hope have yet to record a goal in its all-time series, as the only matchup ended in a 0-0 tie last season.

SPIRIT NOTES
The Spirit finished with a 3-3-2 GSAC record in 2018, good for fifth in the final standings. That record would have qualified the team for the conference tournament.

Freshmen forward Saipress Jones ranks top three in the GSAC in goals (t-2 with 6), assists (t-2 with 4), points (t-3 with 16), and game winning goals (t-1 with 3).

The team leads the conference in goals and goals per game (33 goals, 3.30 per game average), assists and assists per game (25 assists, 2.50 per game average), as well as shots and shots on goal per game (111 shots, 11.1 average per game).

The Spirit have scored two or more goals in eight of its first ten games this season.

UP NEXT
The Spirit will host cross-town rival Arizona Christian on October 12 at Spirit Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:30pm.
