Helena, Mont. — The OUAZ women's soccer team picked up its first result of the season on Monday morning, battling to a 1-1 draw against Carroll (Mont.) at Nelson Stadium.
The Saints opened the scoring in the first half when Rachel McAllister found the back of the net off an assist from Delaney Moczan, giving Carroll a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
OUAZ responded quickly after the break. Just minutes into the second half, Alee Williams scored the equalizer off a feed from Meredith Galus to even the match at 1-1. The goal marked the Spirit's first of the 2026 campaign.
The Spirit continued to press for the go-ahead goal throughout the final 45 minutes, generating chances from Desiree Dutra, Grace Otero, and Kylie Walker, but Carroll goalkeeper Maria Ackerman kept the match level with several key saves.
Defensively, OUAZ was anchored by goalkeeper Eerika Erjansalo, who recorded four saves and helped preserve the draw as Carroll created a number of opportunities late in the contest.
The result moves the Spirit to 0-1-1 on the season following their opening road trip through Montana.
OUAZ returns home on Thursday, Sept. 10, for both its home opener and Great Southwest Athletic Conference opener when it hosts No. 3 Embry-Riddle. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. in Surprise.
