TUCSON, Ariz. - The Ottawa University Track and Field Team competed this weekend at the 2018 Willie Williams Classic hosted at the University of Arizona.
The Spirit had 15 athletes competing in 11 events for the two day meet in Tucson, Arizona.
Darius Allen competed in the 400m race by earning a time of 51.50 setting a new season record. With this time Allen qualified for the NCCAA National Championships in May.
Ed Thomas also qualified for the National Championships in the 110m High Hurdles. He earned a time of 16.42 setting a new season record for himself.
For the women,
Monnie Spears-Rogers competed in the 200m. She qualified for the National Championships with a time of 26.07.
In the field events,
Shamar Moreland finished in second place at the long jump with a distance of 7.25m, beating out two Seniors from the University of Arizona. Moreland also competed in the High Jump finishing 5th with a jump of 2.01m (6' 7").
The Spirit compete next at the California Collegiate Open in La Jolla, CA March 31st.
