Mesa, Ariz. —The OUAZ Spirit women's basketball team went toe-to-toe with the Benedictine Mesa Redhawks in a game that stayed close from opening tip to the final buzzer. With momentum swinging each quarter, the Spirit remained competitive throughout but were unable to hold onto a late lead.

1st quarter (15-12): The opening quarter was back and forth, with both teams trading baskets early. Payton Sheridan led the Spirit with 6 points and added an assist, while Jana Solee contributed 2 points and 3 rebounds to keep OUAZ ahead.

2nd quarter (26-28): The tight battle continued in the second quarter as neither team gained separation. Tiana Sledge paced the Spirit with 5 points and a rebound as OUAZ stayed locked in heading into halftime.

3rd quarter (44-43): The third quarter remained closely contested, with the Spirit matching Benedictine Mesa possession for possession. Solee led the way with 6 points, while Sledge added 2 points and 4 rebounds to help maintain the narrow margin.

4th quarter (61-65): The final period was another close fight, but the Spirit were unable to hold their lead late. Solee scored 5 points, and Sledge added 6 points and 3 rebounds, but the Redhawks pulled ahead down the stretch to secure the win.
