OUAZ Win First GSAC Competition

SURPRISE, Ariz. – The OUAZ women's soccer team battled through a physical match up at Spirit Field on Thursday night, using an early spark and a steady attack to secure a 2–0 victory over Benedictine Mesa University.

The OUAZ women's soccer team came out aggressive on Thursday night at Spirit Field, firing off plenty of shots early and setting the tone with an early strike. In the 15th minute, Lexy Rowe opened the scoring for the Spirit, finishing a play set up by Desiree Dutra and Diane Garcia. That early breakthrough fueled the energy of a physical battle that unfolded throughout the match.

The intensity carried into the second half as both sides continued to fight for control. OUAZ's attack kept pressing, and in the 71st minute JoJo Smith extended the lead with a goal assisted by Jolie Armstrong. From there, the Spirit's defense stayed strong, limiting Justice University's chances and ensuring the shutout.

OUAZ's effort on both ends of the field paid off with a 2–0 victory, a performance that highlighted both their persistence on the attack and their discipline in a tough, physical contest.
