Surprise, Ariz. - The OUAZ women's volleyball team protected their home floor on Tuesday night, defeating the Westcliff Warriors 3-1. The Spirit came out strong, winning the first two sets before the Warriors battled back to take the third. OUAZ answered with a decisive fourth-set victory to seal the match and cap off a solid team performance.
Set 1:
The Spirit came out strong and battled through a tight first set, pulling out a 27-25 win. Keira Adrian led the charge with four kills, while Gloria Maye added three of her own. From the service line, Kaiden Raiff, Amey Rainaud, and Jessica Pearce each delivered an ace to help secure the opening set.
Set 2:
The Spirit carried their momentum into the second set and dominated from start to finish in a 25-11 victory. Hannah Allman powered the offense with four kills, while Lauren Wamsley added an ace. Anna Newcomb made her presence felt at the service line, firing three aces to help the Spirit take full control of the match.
Set 3:
The Warriors responded in the third set, handing the Spirit a 25-21 setback. Allman continued to find success at the net with six kills, while Wamsley added four of her own. Reegan Shoquist chipped in with an ace, but OUAZ couldn't complete the comeback as Westcliff extended the match.
Set 4:
The Spirit closed out the match in convincing fashion with a 25-18 win in the fourth set. Pearce stepped up with four kills, while Maye added three more to fuel the offense. From the service line, Wamsley, Rainaud, and Newcomb each delivered an ace to secure the victory and finish off the Warriors.
