MISHAWAKA, Ind. - The OUAZ women's soccer team opened its 2025 season on the road Saturday, falling 3-0 in a non-conference matchup at Bethel (Ind.).
The Spirit put the pressure on early with a shot attempt by JoJo Smith before the ten minute mark. The Pilots soon retaliated with two goals but OUAZ didn't give up. The Spirit showed flashes in the attack, with Desiree Dutra creating chances and leading the team with two shots. Maria Juarez, Camill Wilson, Julia Bodelasse and Kylie Walker also forced the Bethel goalkeeper into saves as OUAZ worked to climb back into the match.
On the defensive end, OUAZ goalkeeper Jordan Gentile kept the Spirit in the match, finishing the day with four saves.

The Spirit's persistence on both ends of the field highlighted their effort and helped them stay within reach all match.
The Spirit look to bounce back in their road matchup against the 11th ranked Marian (Ind.) on Monday at 10:00 AM (MST).
