OUAZ Football Players Take Major Step of Faith With Baptisms at CCV Church

SURPRISE, Ariz. – In a powerful display of faith and unity, 27 members of the OUAZ football team were baptized Sunday at Christ's Church of the Valley (CCV) in Surprise. Surrounded by teammates, coaches, and school leaders, the players publicly declared their commitment to following Christ in a moment that will be remembered as one of the most meaningful in the program's young history.

The baptisms were led by OUAZ Team Chaplain Andy Holmes and Strength and Conditioning Coach Robert "Hern" Hernandez, who have both played instrumental roles in supporting the team's spiritual growth.

OUAZ Head Coach Reilly Murphy, who has often spoken about his vision for the program to not only develop elite football players but also shape young men into future husbands and fathers, shared his pride in seeing so many of his players take this step of faith.

Coach Murphy reflected on the moment, saying:

"Today is the biggest victory we'll have all season. This moment is a culmination of all the time and effort we've put into team bonding and using football as a platform to better these young men's lives. I couldn't be prouder of this team. While we hope to see this translate on the field, what we witnessed today is a testament to the hard work and growth we've invested in each other, and I'm thankful for each player who took this step."

For the players, the day represented far more than a single moment—it was a major step in their personal journeys with Christ. Their decision reflects the culture being built within OUAZ Football, one that values faith, character, and brotherhood as much as success on the field.
