SURPRISE, Ariz. – The 2025 season has been one to remember for OUAZ Beach Volleyball, and the Golden State Athletic Conference (GSAC) took notice. Following a dominant campaign, the Spirit swept the GSAC's major postseason awards and had four players named to the prestigious All-Conference Team.
The postseason recognition underscores what has been a great year for the program under first-year head coach Viri Serrano. OUAZ posted a remarkable 12-3 overall record, going a perfect 12-0 in GSAC play. That unbeaten run not only earned the Spirit the top seed in the GSAC Tournament but also catapulted them to the No. 1 spot in the NAIA National Rankings.
Four Named to GSAC All-Conference Team
Leading the postseason honors were Olivia Andersh, Summer Hanks, Shea Marovich, and Amey Rainaud, who were each named to the GSAC All-Conference Team. OUAZ's four selections were the second-most among all programs in the conference.
Pair of the Year: Amey Rainaud & Summer Hanks
Among the standout performances this season, the pairing of Amey Rainaud and Summer Hanks stood above the rest, earning them the title of GSAC Pair of the Year. The duo compiled a stellar 7-2 record, regularly anchoring the Spirit's lineup and delivering key wins against top conference opponents.
Freshman of the YearGSACJulianne Hemphill Named
Freshman Julianne Hemphill emerged as a key contributor in her debut season, earning GSAC Freshman of the Year honors. Competing in 10 of OUAZ's 15 regular season duals, Hemphill posted a 4-6 record while gaining valuable experience in high-pressure situations.
Coach of the YearGSACCoach Viri Serrano Earns
In her first season leading the program, Coach Viri Serrano made an immediate impact, earning GSAC Coach of the Year honors. Under her leadership, the Spirit not only achieved an undefeated GSAC season but also rose to national prominence.

With the regular season behind them and a full sweep of the conference awards in hand, the Spirit now shift their focus to the GSAC Tournament, where they aim to secure their spot in the NAIA National Championship Tournament.
