OUAZ Falls in Doubleheader Against #6 HIU

Surprise, Ariz.- OUAZ gets swept in their doubleheader against Hope International today, leaving their record at 19-11.

The first game of the doubleheader didn't see much go right for the Spirit. The game ended in a 12-0 loss for OUAZ.

OUAZ batters were no-hit in this one as they weren't quite able to figure out the HIU pitching staff. The pitching for OUAZ wasn't much better, allowing 12 runs to score. Gavin Burns had 1.1 shutout innings for the Spirit.

Game two for OUAZ ended by a score of 9-5 in a hard fought loss.

OUAZ fell behind early but battled back in the third inning with a Joey Winters solo blast. OUAZ surrendered 7 runs from the fourth to the sixth inning and tried to mount a comeback but fell short. The Spirit brought one run home in the sixth inning on Owen Prendergast's first homerun of the year. In the seventh inning, OUAZ recorded 3 runs but their comeback bid was silenced before it could amount to anything. Ethan Hatch had a 2 RBI double, scoring Logan Meyer and Greg Bozinovich. Joey Winters would later score on a wild pitch.

The Spirit don't have time to dwell on today as they look towards another doubleheader with HIU tomorrow. First pitch of game one will be at 11AM MST.
