Spirit Sweep Four Game Series Against Baker in Convincing Fashion

Surprise, Ariz.- OUAZ finishes off the four game sweep of Baker University today winning in seven innings by a score of 10-0. OUAZ's record now sits at 10-1 on the season after a dominant series against Baker.

The Spirit's offense turned in another massive day. Designated hitter Nano Perez got the scoring started in the first inning with a 2 RBI single that had OUAZ jumping out to an early lead. OUAZ padded their lead in the second on an RBI double from first baseman Joey Winters and an RBI triple from shortstop Dante Leach. OUAZ was held scoreless in the middle innings until the sixth and seventh. The Spirit added three more runs in the sixth. This came at the hands of a Nicholas Lustig RBI knock to center, a Dante Leach RBI fielder's choice, and a Logan Meyer RBI single up the middle to leave the lead at 7-0. In the seventh, Nicholas Lustig knocked in another run on an RBI single, Joey Winters logged another RBI on a groundout and Greg Bozinovich laced an RBI double to score the tenth and final run for OUAZ. As a team, the Spirit recorded 10 hits and 8 walks giving themselves plenty of opportunities to score and cashing in a majority of the time. The offense also had 7 stolen bases highlighted by four swiped bags from Nicholas Lustig.

The pitching staff went out and dominated for the Spirit adding another shutout to their staff's growing reputation. Starting pitcher Micah Del Rio shoved for OUAZ, throwing 6 shutout innings while striking out 6 and not walking a single batter, earning his third win of the season (3-0). Gavin Burns came on in relief and tossed a clean inning of his own to close out the game. OUAZ pitching did not record a single walk in today's game and only allowed 2 hits.

The Spirit look to use this momentum and continue their winning streak as they head into a three game series against Nelson Arizona. Game one will be on February 13th, 5PM (MST) on Royals field 6
