Fullerton, Calif. – OUAZ Women's Basketball loses a close game late against Hope International (11-11 OVR, 3-6 GSAC) 77-71. The loss gives the Spirit an overall record of 14-9 on the year, and they are now 4-6 in conference play.
The Spirit's defense played solid on Saturday afternoon, as they held the Eagles to a 47.5% shooting percentage from the field, 27.8% shooting percentage from three, while forcing 19 turnovers that resulted 24 points for the Spirit. The Spirit's offense also played well, shooting 41.5% from the field, and 42.9% from the three-point line. The free throw line and second chance points ended up being the difference in the game.
Two Spirit players finished with double-digit points, led by Jana Solee who scored 14 points, three rebounds, and three steals on a 60% shooting percentage. OUAZ also got contributions from Tiana Sledge, who had a line of 10 points, six rebounds, and one steal, while Charlie Cook made her presence known on the defensive end with four steals and four defensive rebounds to go along with her six points.
The Spirit will finish the week playing Life Pacific in San Dimas on Saturday, February 8th at 1PM (MST).
