Prescott, Ariz. – OUAZ Women's Basketball lost a close game against Embry-Riddle (8-13 OVR, 3-6 GSAC) 55-52. The loss gives the Spirit an overall record of 14-8 on the year, and they are now 4-5 in conference play.
The Spirit's defense played well on Saturday afternoon, as they held the Eagles to a 27.8% shooting percentage from the field, 16.7% shooting percentage from three, while forcing 18 turnovers that resulted 14 points for the Spirit. The Spirit's offense struggled however, shooting 31.3% from the field, and 26.7% from the three-point line. The free throw line did ended up being the difference in the game with a major disparity as the Spirit shot 6-10 from the line, while the Eagles shot 23-30.
Two Spirit players finished with double-digit points, led by Angel Addleman who scored 11 points, six rebounds, and three assists on a 33.3% shooting percentage. OUAZ also got contributions from Tiana Sledge, who had a line of 11 points, and six rebounds, and one steal, while Makayla Holthaus made her presence known on the defensive end with three steals and two blocks adding to her eight points and four rebounds.
The Spirit will head to California, where they will play two crucial conference games. There first game will come on Thursday, February 6th against Hope International at 6:30 PM (MST). Then they will play Life Pacific in San Dimas on Saturday, February 8th at 1PM (MST).
