Spirit Complete Series Sweep Against Bethesda in Thriller

Surprise, Ariz- The Spirit start the 2025 season on fire completing a great early series sweep against Bethesda University. Building upon the amazing strides, in the last three games the team kept the pace on this Saturday morning to push forward for 6 to 2 victory. Putting them at a perfect 4-0 record to start the 2025 non-conference campaign.

The hot start for the Spirit starts with the pitching that has been phenomenal the last three games continuing into the last game of the series. Pitcher Micah Del Rio shoved in his debut and picked up the win after 6 scoreless innings. He provided the amount of innings the Spirit coaching staff were definitely looking for. The Layton native impressed in his first start keeping a clean slate allowing only 2 hits and striking out 4. Brandon Enders and Tyler Bare came out of the bullpen on a tear as well. Between the two relief pitchers, there were only 3 allowed hits and one run off a sacrifice ground ball. Clackamas CC transfer Liam Kiffner shut down things allowing only 1 hit in his one inning of work to close things out for the Spirit.

Offensively, the Spirit provided the runs to back up the several great pitching performances. Senior Logan Meyer, in his second year with the Spirit, led the way with 2 RBIs and a walk. Both RBI's came on great plays, one being off a double to left center and the other being a sacrifice fly. Peoria native, Nicholas Lustig also provided 2 hits with an RBI, which came off a hot shot double down the line. Dante Leach, Ethan Hatch, and Luke Hyzdu also sparked the offense with all 3 getting two hits each.

Spirit baseball continue on their quest to their second national tournament appearance against top 20 ranked Taylor University in a 3 game series. This non-conference series starts Friday, January 31st at 2pm on Rangers Field 3 then continues with a doubleheader Saturday, February 1st at 11am and 2:30pm again at Rangers Field 3. The series will also be streamed on GSAC Sports Network.
