Santa Clarita, Calif. – OUAZ Women's Basketball suffered their first loss in conference play Saturday afternoon to the hands of The Master's (9-5 OVR, 2-1 GSAC) 72-58. The loss gives the Spirit an overall record of 12-4 on the year, and they are now 2-1 in conference play.
The Spirit's defense had a solid day holding the Mustangs to a 44.8% shooting percentage from the field, a 14.3% three-point percentage, and forced them into 25 turnovers that resulted in 20 points for the Spirit. The Spirit's offense however struggled with a 31.9% shooting percentage from the field, while missing all of their three-point attempts, and turning the ball over 20 times resulting in 21 points for The Master's.
Two Spirit players finished with double-digit points, led by Angel Addleman who put together a 24-point performance, while adding five rebounds, and five assists on a 47.4% shooting percentage. Brianna Humphries made her contributions on the defensive end with two defensive rebounds, five blocks, and four steals. OUAZ also got contributions from Tiana Sledge, who had a line of 11pts, three steals, and nine rebounds on the afternoon.
The Spirit will get some time off before they return home to play Life Pacific (5-11 OVR, 1-2 GSAC) on Thursday, January 16th at 5:30PM MST. They will then host Hope International (6-9 OVR, 0-3 GSAC), on Saturday, January 18th at Noon MST.
