OUAZ Sweeps to 2-0 Record in GSAC

MESA, ARIZ. – The OUAZ women's volleyball team took a trip across the Valley, looking to pick up its second win in conference play on Saturday evening. The Spirit took care of business against Park Gilbert, winning in straight sets thanks to efforts from many of its best players.

OUAZ took the first two sets of the night easily, winning each by a score of 25-14. The Buccaneers made the third set a little closer, but the Spirit were able to end the match with a 25-20 decision in what would be the final frame.

The Spirit had double the kills of its opponent, finishing with 48, with 44 of those having an assist. OUAZ did a great job defensively as well, getting 58 digs and finishing with a pair of blocks.

Lauren Wamsley put together another double-double performance, finishing with 11 kills and 18 digs. Wamsley was efficient as well, converting at a .308 rate and needing only 26 attacks on Saturday.

Jessica Pearce led the contest in kills, posting 12 on a .476 attack percentage. Pearce had a pair of block assists as well, with the other two coming from Logan Kuehn.

Kuehn also led the match in assists, being responsible for 23 of the Spirit's 44 on the night. Beatriz Paolinetti dished out 14 helpers, and was one of nine players to record a dig for OUAZ. Amey Rainaud was the other Spirit member to have 10+ digs, posting 16 for her team.

OUAZ will head to California for the first time this season, and the trip will start with a non-conference matchup. The Spirit will take on future GSAC conference opponent on Friday, with first serve set for 2 p.m.
