OUAZ Battles Tough in Last Day in Montana

GREAT FALLS, MONT. – The OUAZ women's volleyball team wrapped up its trip to Big Sky Country on Saturday afternoon, facing off with another stellar team from the Frontier. The Spirit battled Montana State-Northern to four sets, the middle two sets needing extra points, but ultimately were defeated in the final day at the University of Providence.

After dropping the opening frame, the Spirit worked hard to close out the second set at 26-24 to tie the match. The third set saw the same final score, but OUAZ was on the wrong end of the final, and despite playing valiantly in the fourth set, would be on the losing side of a 25-20 score.

Lauren Wamsley posted her third consecutive double-double to start the season, posting a game-high 16 kills to go along with 14 digs. Jenna Sarff had the second-highest kill total in the contest, scoring 13 on Saturday.

Beatriz Paolinetti also led the contests in assists, dishing out 26 while Logan Kuehn pitched in 16 helpers. Amey Rainaud and Kaitlin Brown were all over the floor defensively, finishing with 27 and 26 digs, respectively, plus Wamsley and Paolinett added double-digit dig totals.

The next time the Spirit will take the court they will match up with MSUN once again, but it will take place in the friendly confines of Faith Arena. OUAZ and the Skylights will face again in the OUAZ Invitational next Thursday, with the first serve set for 5 p.m.
