Following a 15-win season in 2023, the OUAZ women's volleyball team will be looking to build on its success this coming Fall. The Spirit will have an opportunity to make its mark in a rebranded GSAC, and make a run back to the national spotlight.

OUAZ will be lead under new head coach Olivia Afusia, who was promoted from the assistant coach position she held in 2023. Afusia will now be joined by new assistant Paige Denton, and the two will work with a great group of returners and newcomers toward a conference championship.

Two players who registered over 100 kills are coming back for the Spirit, as Lauren Wamsley and Gloria Moye will look to drive the offense this season. Three of OUAZ's four assist leaders last season return as well, with Logan Kuehn, Beatriz Paolinetti and Gracie Johnson will dish the ball around to a high-flying attack.

Defensively, the team's blocks leader Jessica Pearce returns, as she racked up 60.0 as a force at the net. At the service line, both Wampler and Reegan Shoquist totaled 20+ service aces last season.

The newcomers for OUAZ see players like Kaitlin Brown, Katy Shockey, and Jenna Sarff getting into the mix for 2024. Brown is a former all-conference player at NCAA D2 Saint Anslem College, where she racked up 200+ kills in each of her final two seasons for the Hawks. Shockey had a 200+ kill season when she was at Arizona Christian before heading further west to join the Spirit, and Sarff is a freshman who is really settling into the team.   

OUAZ will start with three games at the University of Providence, then come home for the OUAZ Invitational. The Spirit will play 14 GSAC games, with four extra non-conference games sprinkled in throughout the last week in September and into October.
