Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |

#3 Spirit Take Down #2 Vanguard in Home Finale

SURPRISE, ARIZ. – The third-ranked OUAZ men's volleyball team had an opportunity to make a statement on Saturday, hosting No. 2 Vanguard in the final game at Faith Arena in 2024. The Spirit showed that they are still strong national championship contenders, defeating the Lions in four sets.

The two teams played tight sets all the way through, and the first two sets showed how close games can be at a high level. The Spirit won each of the first two sets 27-25, before winning the fourth set, 25-22, to secure the match.

The Spirit were great defensively at the net, finishing with three solo block and four block assists. For the second straight night, Horatio Maumasi was a force defensively, this time finishing with a solo block and two block assists.

Addah Nestor was the leading attacker once again, finishing with 24 kills. Nestor was able to post a .476 attack percentage, and also had an assist and a block assist during the afternoon.

Zeo Meyer was the brilliant passer he has been all season, finishing with 50 assists. Meyer performs best against the top competition, as it is the second contest against a top-10 team in which he has finished with 50+ assists (51 vs No. 6 Menlo on Feb. 23).

OUAZ will now hit the road for a pair of contests to close out the regular season. The Spirit will play NCAA DIII Cal Lutheran on Thursday, with first serve set for 6 p.m.
