SANTA CLARITA, CALIF. – The third-ranked OUAZ men's volleyball team stepped onto MacArthur Court for the second time in six days, this time matching up with #2 Vanguard in the 2024 GSAC Tournament Semifinal. The Spirit and Lions played an intense first set, and OUAZ's quest for the GSAC Tournament title was ended on Friday night.
The opening set was back-and-forth, with OUAZ leading most of the way. The Spirit did have a couple of opportunities to end the set victorious, but the Lions eventually took set 29-27.
Emery Outin led the way offensively for OUAZ, finishing with 15 kills. Outin also had two block assists, six digs, and recorded just one of three total aces in the match.
Zeo Meyer had 28 assists to go along with three kills and six digs. Caeden Salmen and Ben Wilson were excellent defensively, as they had two block assists each, and Wilson had a solo block.
The Spirit will now wait to see if they will be included in the NAIA National Championships as an at-large bid. The championship field will be revealed on Monday, April 22 at 2 p.m.
