ORANGE COUNTY, CALIF. – The fourth-ranked OUAZ men's volleyball team headed to Southern California for a pair of important GSAC matches. The Spirit played a very close match with defending national champion Vanguard, then took a straight-sets win over Hope International to close the weekend.

The first and third sets of this contest needed extra points, as two national championship hopefuls battled all night long. The Spirit played well offensively in the opening and final sets as well, finishing with 11 kills and an attack percentage over .360 in each of those sets.
Emery Outin led the way for OUAZ, finishing with 15 kills on 25 attempts (.480 attack percentage). Outin also tied for the game lead in service aces, matching Zeo Meyer with three. Meyer also had 25 assists on the night as well, plus added a kill.

The Spirit came back with an excellent performance the next night, defeating the Royals in three sets. After a 27-25 opening set, the Spirit dominated the second set before closing the match with a 25-20 third.
OUAZ finished with 49 kills, and had a .426 attack percentage. The Spirit had at least 13 kills in each set, including 21 kills in 27 points in the first set.
Addah Nestor was a force, finishing with a game-high 16 kills and a .538 attack percentage. Nestor also led the match with three service aces.
Outin matched his kill output from the night before, finishing with 15. He was great defensively as well, finishing with eight digs and a block assist.
Meyer put on another show in this match, finishing with 38 assists. The senior also had eight kills on 12 attacks, and also had a solo block.
The Spirit will return to action on Friday to take on top-ranked The Master's. First serve from Faith Arena is set for 6 p.m.
