On Wednesday, the OUAZ men's volleyball team moved up two spots in the NAIA rankings. Later in the day, they had an opportunity to show off it's new top-five position, and the Spirit did not disappoint.
OUAZ proved impressive in its first GSAC game of the season, defeating ACU in straight sets at Faith Arena. The Spirit had a dominating 25-13 second set, sandwiched between 25-20 frames in the first and third.
The fourth-ranked OUAZ squad had at least 14 kills in each of the three sets played, and posted a .650 hit percentage in the second set. A 45-kill night for the Spirit was more than double of the Firestorm, who posted 22 over the three frames.
Emery Outin's great season continued Wednesday, finishing with a team-high 13 kills paired with a .400 hitting percentage.
Addah Nestor and
Caeden Salmen each had eight kills, and OUAZ had five players with at least seven kills.
Zeo Meyer was dishing the ball all over the court, finishing with 31 assists, making it five games with at least 30+ helpers. Meyer was also critical from the service line, being responsible for six of the Spirit's eight aces.
The Spirit will go for its second conference win in a huge early-season tilt. OUAZ will host sixth-ranked Menlo at Faith Arena on Friday, with first serve set for 6:00 p.m.
