Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |

#4 Spirit Finish Victorious in Five-Set Thriller Versus #6 Menlo

SURPRISE, ARIZ. – When the newest edition of the NAIA men's volleyball coaches' poll came out on Wednesday, Friday's matchup between #4 OUAZ and #6 Menlo was set to be the match of the week. The two top-six teams did not disappoint.

After winning a hard-fought first two sets, the Spirit were poised to take the match in three sets. The Oaks never gave in, and pushed the game to five sets, where a few extra points were needed to determine a winner.

OUAZ was on match point on multiple occasions during the fifth set, but never gave in as they eventually finished off Menlo 20-18 in the final frame. The victory makes it seven in a row for the Spirit, and a perfect record in the month of February.

Addah Nestor had a huge evening, posting a double-double that saw him rack up 24 kills and 10 digs. Nestor was also efficient with his swings, as he finished with a .320 attack percentage on 50 attempts.

Emery Outin was one dig shy of a double-double, and his 20 kills was a huge help to the Spirit on Friday. Outin was a huge force defensively as well, finishing with nine digs, four block assists, and a solo block.

OUAZ had 61 digs on the evening, and three different players finished with at least 10. Caeden Salmen tied for the match lead with 14, and Zeo Meyer added 10 digs as did Nestor.

Meyer also had another monster night dishing the offense, posting 51 assists, the most so far in a match this season for the senior. Meyer also had seven kills, plus a pair of service aces on the evening.

OUAZ will have a couple days off before getting back on the court again on Monday. They will host Park-Gilbert at Faith Arena, with first serve set for 6 p.m.
