OUAZ Splits against Park

The OUAZ softball team split a doubleheader against Park University Gilbert at the Arizona Athletic Grounds (formerly known as Legacy Sports Park) in Mesa, Arizona.

In game one, the Spirit (6-6) won 5-1 behind a pair of three-hit attacks by Mia Casadei and Kelli Samorano, and Riley Shopp (2-2) in the circle.  Shopp allowed seven hits but only one run walked three, and struck out four.  Both Casadei and Samorano had doubles in the contest.

In the nightcap, Samorano got half of the Spirit's four hits as the Buccaneer (2-6) pitching staff kept OUAZ hitters guessing.

The team will be back in action on Saturday at Willow Canyon High School.  It will be a three-way series as the Spirit will face the second-ranked Southern Oregon Raiders (3-2) in the first game.  The Raiders will then play Park, before Park and OUAZ will wrap the day up.
