Two records fall for OUAZ Track and Field in Glendale

The OUAZ track and field team competed in the Gaucho Indoor Invitational on Saturday, with OUAZ records being set in two events.

Anastazia Uwingeneye destroyed the previous record of 8.94 meters in the weight throw, as she bested the previous mark by over two meters to set it at 11.11 meters.

The junior distance runner Masen Hofmann broke the previous record that Brandon Velasco set in February of 2018 by 2.05 seconds (10:05.19).

The 600-meter run was good for both the men and the women.  On the women's side, sophomore Allison Maethner won the event by 2.4 seconds at 1:50.59 over a runner from Mesa Community College.  For the men, sophomore Michael Reshard finished fifth at 1:31.22, which is the second-fastest time in school history.

Maethner scored a top-10 finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:40.75.

In the field events, Fotis Amegangee secured the second-longest mark in the triple jump in OUAZ history with a 12.79-meter effort.

The team will be back in action this weekend in Flagstaff at the NAU Tune Up
