Women Fifth, Men Seventh at GSAC Championship

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The OUAZ track & field team wrapped up the 2022 GSAC Track & Field Championship on Friday at the Westmont Track. The OUAZ women scored 72 points to record a fifth-place finish, with the men placing seventh with 46 points.

Ronieka Robinson gave the Spirit women their best individual result of the meet with a second-place finish in the 100 Meter Dash. Robinson finished the race in a personal-best 12.17 seconds.

Ayala Harris was fifth in the 100 Meters with a time of 12.68 seconds. She also finished fifth in the 200 Meters by running 26.43 seconds.

Leina Carvalho finished the 100 Meter Hurdles in 16.42 seconds to place sixth. She added a third-place finish in the 400 Meter Hurdles in a time of 1:07.96. Carvalho added a sixth-place result with a throw of 10.04 meters in the Shot Put. She was also sixth in the Hammer Throw by hitting 29.65 meters.

LyQualah Kinsey set a personal-best in the 400 Meters with her time of 1:01.14, which placed her sixth in the race.

OUAZ completed the 4x100 Meter Relay in 48.52 seconds to secure a second-place finish. The team featured Kinsey, Harris, Carvalho, and Robinson.

The 4x400 Meter Relay team of Abigail Theis, Hannah Gager-Evans, Chantelle Simpkins, and Kinsey picked up a sixth-place result with a time of 4:23.86.

Kylee Davis cleared 1.45 meters in the High Jump for a sixth-place result. The Triple Jump saw Robinson finish fifth with a distance of 9.97 meters, and Simpkins was sixth at 9.95 meters.

Jacey Danks was eighth in the Shot Put with a distance of 9.62 meters, and her mark of 26.04 meters in the Hammer Throw was good for seventh. Anastazia Uwingeneye was eighth in the Hammer at 25.34 meters.

The Spirit men got a seventh-place finish in the 100 Meters from Joshua Gervacio in 12.00 seconds, with Kyle Logan in eight at 14.66 seconds.

Tristan Wheeler placed fifth in the 200 Meters with his time of 22.84 seconds. He also finished second in the High Jump after clearing 1.89 meters.

Larry Scott was fourth in the 400 Meters in a time of 50.57 seconds.

Zanaan Bane went 16.26 seconds in the 110 Meter Hurdles to secure a fourth-place finish. He was second in the Triple Jump with a mark at 13.38 meters.

Nyzhae Anderson was seventh in the High Jump at the height of 1.75 meters.

The OUAZ 4x100 Meter Relay team of Nathaniel Mitchell, Gervacio, Bane, and Wheeler finished fourth in 43.25 seconds. The 4x400 Meter Relay team included Scott, Gervacio, Deamon Richard, and Daymion Richard, and they finished sixth in 3:36.96.
