Mesa, ARIZ.- The Spirit's defense shined in the final game of the regular season as they beat Benedictine Mesa (3-13-1 Overall, 1-12-1 Conference) 1-0. The win puts the Spirit at 8-7-3 on the year and 6-6-2 in conference play.

The defenses for both teams dominated the first half as both teams were shutout, sending them into the locker room with a 0-0 tie. The Spirit ended the half with five total shots, with the RedHawks having a total of 6 shots.

The Spirit would strike in the 60^th minute of play with a goal by Karissa Frerichs (7^th on the Season). The Spirit defense would continue to shut down the RedHawks' offense, holding them to just four shots in the second half, ending the game with a 1-0 victory.

It will be GSAC Tournament play the next time the Spirit will take the field as they will head on the road to play #15 Embry-Riddle (13-2-3 OVR, 12-1-1 GSAC) in the semi-finals. The match will take place on Friday, November 8^th at 4:30pm. A win would mean the Spirit would play in the GSAC Championship Game on Wednesday, November 13^th with the hopes of punching a ticket to the NAIA National Tournament.
